I do like the grind from this. But it stops there. The design is poor. There are way too many nooks, crannies, cracks and crevices for grounds. Quite a pain to get it properly cleaned. The first time I cleaned mine, I had to turn it upside down to clean a spot, and grounds that had fallen into the body of the unit because of an open crevice below the ground bin, got between the LCD screen and the clear cover. And it will not go away. The best way I have found to start cleaning mine is to vacuum as much of the loos grounds ou that I can. Then I can start the actual cleaning. I should NOT have to use a vacuum to clean a coffee grinder.

Wondering about grinding spices , do you know about that ?

Everybody seems to tell you something different in these videos. One person says don't remove the crust from the coffee, then another (this guy) tells you to scoop out the grounds at the top before using the plunger. Who do you believe?

Everyone wants the chart. Everyone, please just do your own ratio. Start with 1 part coffee to 2 parts filtered H2O. Change the ratios up depending on your taste. ☕🎯

Reminds me of hundreds of mobile phone reviews which get into all kindsa fun features - how fast, how many pixel cam, all the speed checks, how far the gaming - but omit signal reception quality and whether you can actually make understandable calls. My Nexus 6 - that had the Google stamp of approval - was to useless for calling unless Bluetooth gadgets were used.

great video and was just about to buy this grinder but it looks like it now only comes with the dosing cup and not the grounds bin which isnt great if grinding for non espresso drinks

last tip - don't use any of the tools shown in this video because they all suck pretty bad. A portable gas burner is just about the most insane way to boil water in a kitchen.

When I bought my Encore a few months ago, it had the old-style gasket. The user manual said "don't tear the gasket". You can guess what I did. After swearing a bunch, I looked online for a replacement and ordered the new style one (sorry, not from FPC 🤣). It works great. It was a breeze to install.

I have the original Encore and the Bambino plus. I set the grinder at 6 and it gives me nice crema. Once you add milk and sugar, it all taste the same, which is enjoyable. I honestly don’t measure the seconds, and I can’t tell sour from bitter or taste chocolate over notes. Life is too short.

My daughter gave me a French press awhile back and it has the fine wire screen to filter the coffee. It does not use a paper filter. I have watch James many time and how he brews with the press. I get my water up 210 degrees and pour it into the carafe. By the time I add my coffee to the water, it is about 200. I allow the coffee to sit and bloom about one minute. I don't remove it but stir it round and round. I then ass my press with the ultra fine screen. Give the press about another 3 minutes and very slowly push it. down to the bottom. James says to only push down just below the top of the liquid and then pour. When I finish drinking the coffee, I have NO grounds in the bottom of my cup. You can't filter without a hack with a French press? Bro you literally have two Espro French presses advertised in this video lol. There whole thing is double filters with the added benefit of being able to use a paper filter to add an additional layer if you choose!!

I feel like there’s a missed opportunity here to sell those strainers... I searched your website for “strainers” and couldn’t find any. It would’ve been a no-brainer purchase for me after this video.

OXO wins this for me hands down. One touch set and forget, so i can walk in the morning hit grind, brew. price. The one difference, "consistency" is not something i care about as all i make are pour overs and i'm not freaking about about it. Will say for the price these things should be smarter and have digital screens.

Hey, I was considering getting this single dose hopper to help with retention. My Brazza Esp has awful retention. Each time I clean it, my next grind looses around 2-3 grams of coffee that get stuck. Seems this one doesn't help much with the retention issue, huh?

Wish i had seen this last year when i set mine up, because i was confused by the wrong/old picture in the instructions and ended up putting it in thinner side down against the burr. Just took it apart to clean today and found the thin side shredded and even thinner. 😑

why would you take the time to inform on the easier burr removal/cleaning on the Encore vs. Encore Esp - but fail to adress the issue with the Virtuoso + ? Why is it, that almost all coffee grinder reviews forget to adress that? If I buy a machine that can "last me a life time" - why the heck nobody seems to adress the ease/annoy of cleaning and maintaining the machine? I just don't get it. Yes, all the other stuff - grind size, functions, burrs, blablabla are really important of course. But the best grinder that gives the most consistent grindings, is quiet, programmable and what not is just crap if cleaning and maintaining the thing is poorly designed and will make you hate it, everytime you have to do it. For home brewers there's recommenended to clean your grinder at least every two weeks. Every two weeks half an hour of cursing, figdeting, fumbling and almost getting hurt - that's just not gonna happen!

Thanx for the reviews! Question: please could someone finally include the cleaning process of grinders in their reviews? Ease of dismantling the burrs, brushing and using some grinder cleaner and how easy it is to reinstall the whole thing. I looked into some product reviews here, but strangely this vital part of maintaining your grinding is left out :/ My first coffeegrinder, that I still use and own is a nightmare to dismantle and clean, so I tend to procrastinate that because it just sucks big time. So before I buy the next grinder, I really want to know how much effort maintaining it is required. Old coffee grounds with rancid oils really ruin your coffee - but if disassembling and cleaning the grinder takes me at least 20 mins with a lot of cursing and trying something over and over because it is designed so poorly - I won't do it every other week - more like twice in a half year, if even.

How often do you recommend disassembling to clean?

I didn't use my grinder for 1.5 years because the gasket install frustrated me so badly 😂

I'll have to test this next time I grind coffee because I just spent several minutes cleaning my kitchen because the grinds flew everywhere. I even tried to cup my hand around the dispenser and they flew against my hand and still got in a mess around the grinder itself. Smh. I can't believe static is the culprit here. Fascinating. I was worried my grinder was somehow clogged or something.

I hate the claim of "stainless steel" that some manufacturers make. I have personally returned 3 "stainless steel" percolators because they rust after a week. These may be stainless on the outside, but the inside can rust out. I'm just torn between glass and something more durable.

That didn't tell me squat. Terrible.
